Description

Unknown maker. From Debra Sampson (b.1776 d.1861), daughter of Debra Sampson, the first woman to fight in the Revolutionary War, and wife of Nathaniel Bradford (b.1775 d. 1830) 3X Grandson of Governor William Bradford. This set of spoons came from the estate of Elizabeth Bradford Rusnell of Taos, New Mexico. She was also a direct descendant of Governor Bradford, and her family compiled notes and explanatory writings with this and other pieces of flatware collected from the family over the years. The Bradfords of this period were a prominent family in New York and Boston and collected widely throughout the eastern seaboard.
